This is an interesting question.
No matter which pest we’re dealing with we need to be careful to assure that the selected methodology utilized is effective and we’re using it in a careful fashion.
Please note that moles and voles are different species with different biology and behavior. We need to employ methodologies which are well suited to the pest we’re dealing with.
Used carefully, traps and properly labeled bait products may be used to successfully control these pest animals.
No matter which methodology you choose, there will be some level of risk to off target animals. However, this risk may be mitigated via the use of suitable care.
